Evangeline Byars is a force and game changer

Born and raised in Brooklyn into a working-class family, Evangeline is no stranger to the struggles faced by hard-working New Yorkers.

While attending Medger Evers college she studied and came to appreciate the profound history of the labor movement. Evangeline learned how to organize and the important role of focused leadership while fighting a hostile takeover of Medgar Evers College. This was a defining moment where she found her voice in calling to defend underserved students in higher education.

Today Evangeline sees the same hostile corrupt forces inside the MTA. This is why I am ready to take on the challenges TWU LOCAL 100 members face with the MTA. Evangeline is ready to lead TWU LOCAL 100 and foster a resurgence of this great union.
